Link round-up (August 2020)

Don’t go back to normal created by Stephen Reid and Phoebe Tickell. A list of alternatives to consider for work, tech, finance (and more) in a post-pandemic world.

Now is the time for breaking out of our usual habits and siloed issue areas. We must re-imagine every corner of society, from food systems to education to how we use technology, how we do waste, how we generate energy, and the rhythms and behaviours with which we live our lives. We must do this so that we #dontgobacktonormal.

Data detox kit from Tactical Tech. I can’t do better to summarise this than the site’s clear and concise intro: “Everyday steps you can take to control your digital privacy, security, and wellbeing in ways that feel right to you.”

From productivity porn to mindful productivity by Anne-Laure Le Cunff. The only post you ever need read about productivity. It includes some home truths about our search for the magic bullet and includes some steps to take to build a system that works for you.

Wall of Ideas created by Julien Fichet. Short definitions of complex ideas. I can see myself returning to this regularly.

The Comfort/Chaos Circle by Beck Tench. A short explanation of a model for thinking about learning. Useful for taking a snapshot of where learners are at any moment.

And finally, I shared a link on Twitter to a post about rethinking the design of digital calendars and someone replied with a link to this meditation on small seasons and long calendars.
