There’s never going to be a time when we don’t face challenges or changes in our lives. How we respond to these as they happen determines their long-term impact on our mental wellbeing. Thankfully there is plenty that we can do to take control of the situation so that we bend rather than break.
Resilience is both our ability to bounce back, or rebound, from adversity and our capacity to deal with challenging situations as they arise. The good news is that resilience isn’t something you either have or you don’t. It’s a set of thoughts, behaviours and actions that can be learnt and strengthened. With practice, everyone can master resilience.
The aim of this programme is to examine some of the research around resilience and introduce a variety of approaches to help you develop a resilience toolkit of your own. Something you’ll be able to draw on whenever you need it.
What you can expect from Rebound
The programme is self-guided with everything you need to take part delivered by email.
The weeks are themed around four key factors that affect resilience:
Each week you will get two emails containing:
- a round-up of research related to the week’s theme
- an invitation to reflect on where you are now
- an activity to practice and add to your resilience toolkit
Delivered direct to your inbox. All lessons and activities are sent by email so you’ll have permanent access to the content.
Self-guided lessons and activities. This means you can work at your own pace. If you need to pause, that’s OK — you’ll have all the activities in your inbox to return to when you’re ready.
Rolling start dates. Your 4-week programme starts with a welcome email on the day you sign up. After that you’ll receive emails each week on Mondays and Tuesdays.
